Immerse yourself in the temperate rainforests and rugged coastline of Pacific Rim National Park Resereve. Let us guide you through ancient forests, expansive white sand beaches and rocky headlands. See some of Canada's most iconic wildlife such as bald eagles, black bears, and whales. Even try your hand at surfing on world famous Long Beach. Located on the west coast of Vancouver Island, Pacific Rim National Park Reserve is the perfect wild photography desination.

GUIDED ACTIVITIES

  • 11 unique locations for sunrise and sunset landscape photography.
  • Roam around tidal pools and rocky headlands at Botanical Beach and in the village of Ucluelet.
  • Watch people, surfers and shore birds along Pacific Rim's many gorgeous beaches, including Long Beach, Chesterman Beach, and Cox Bay.
  • Poke around in local artist galleries and watch sea planes come and go from the charming village of Tofino.
  • Wander through giant Western Red Cedar and Western Hemlock on Tofino's Rainforest Trail.
  • See 800 year old Douglas Fir at MacMilliam Provincial Park's Cathedral Grove.
  • Visit the beautiful botanical gardens in Tofino, the perfect place for wildlife viewing and exploring a collection of protected native plants.
  • Partake in a fully equiped surf lesson with a professional instructor (optional activity at extra charge).
  • Go on a whale and wildlife viewing boat tour along the wild volcanic coast of Pacific Rim National Park, concluding at Maquinna Provincial Park for a wander around an ancient rainforest and a soak in a coastal hot spring!

  • Luxury west coast style lodge accomodations with private room (based on double occupancy).
  • All meals and snacks are provided by our camp chef, but of course you're allowed to bring your favourites along!
  • Secure waterproof storage for electronics.
  • Return transportation to Pacific Rim National Park Reseve from Nanaimo, as well as to all guided activities and locations.
  • Cost of all scheduled activities through third party vendors is included in tour price unless otherwise noted.

Things to know

  • We travel with small groups, so space on these tours is very limited. Please book early to ensure you're not disapointed!

  • Weather can be unpredictable along the coast. For your own confort and safely, please be prepared for anything! It can go from warm and sunny to snowy and wind in just a few minutes...seriously.

  • Please note that proof of travel medical insurance and equipment insurance is manditory when booking this tour.

  • The tour departs from Nanaimo, BC on Vancouver Island. The nearest airport is Nanaimo Airport (YCD). We highly recommend booking flights to arrive in and out of this airport.

  • Please keep in mind when booking fights, that delays are not uncommon. Leave yourself some wiggle room with the timing so you don't miss the tour departure time!

Required Equipment

  • DSLR or mirrorless camera. If you're unfamiliar with the manual shooting functions and settings of your camera, please bring your manual along.
  • Lenses of your choice, but at least one lens that is suitable for landscape photography (24mm or wider, can be prime or zoom)
  • Sturdy tripod
  • Remote shutter release, cable or wireless
  • Extra batteries and chargers for all camera equipment
  • Memory cards

Recommended equipment

  • Waterproof covering for camera
  • ND filter
  • Graduated ND filter
  • Circular polarizing filter
  • Camera bag appropriate for hiking
  • Laptop for file storage and software for developing, or if no laptop, a way to back up files from memory cards. No computers will be provided for guest use
  • Backup storage for files (highly recommended)
